Dominica’s Citizenship by Investment Programme Encourages Local Hotel Development

On 15th April Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit, announced the eagerly awaited construction of a new hotel for the Cabrits area.The construction, orchestrated by Range Development Partners Ltd and the Kempinski Hotel Group, could commence before the end of the year.

Thanks to the combined efforts of the current administration and the innovative Citizenship by Investment Programme, there are plans for the construction of a number of hotels throughout the island.

Prime Minister Skerrit confirmed that “quite possibly we could see developments taking place this year” and announced his initial support for a 200-room development in Portsmouth’s Coconut Beach.

A second proposal, to build “36 villas and manufacture chocolate” may be approved in the near future. The Prime Minister stated that “one can appreciate the kind of impact that this would have on the communities of Galleon, Soufriere and Scott’s Head.”
He added, “I believe that once a [proposal] can address some of our concerns, I would be in a position to approve that development.”
In November 2014 a Memorandum of Understanding was created between the Government of Dominica and Range Development Partners Ltd for the Cabrits construction.
